The Bears had three base-runners in total as Haddad recorded her third shutout of the season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior Shannon Haddad had an outstanding start, throwing her third shutout of the season in a complete game, giving up just one hit in the seventh inning as the Beach took down Northern Colorado 2-0.
Haddad struck out five, only allowed three base-runners and gave up the one-hit in a complete performance for the senior as Northern Colorado (7-19) only reached on a hit batter and an error before Krista Francia snagged the only hit on the night for the Bears in the top of the seventh.
Offensively, Long Beach State (14-10) threatened in the third inning, loading the bases with no outs but Northern Colorado was able to wiggle out of the jam. The Bears were unable to do the same in the next two innings. Malayna Terrones walked with one out in the fourth, and senior Corissa Sweet doubled to bring home the first run of the game.
One inning later, Makayla Medellin singled to start the inning, and two more hits from Savannah Magadan and Brooklyn Lee scored the junior outfielder to make the score 2-0, which was more than enough support for Haddad on Tuesday evening.
Long Beach State will take to the road this weekend, continuing Big West play on Friday with a doubleheader at CSUN on ESPN+.
