Women’s Water Polo Opens Big Week With An Exhibition Match

The Beach will host the Toronto Golden Jets on Tuesday night.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 9 Long Beach State comes back home after a month on the road to face the Toronto Golden Jets in an exhibition match on Tuesday night at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center before heading to Irvine for the Barbara Kalbus Invitational on Friday.
The Beach is coming off of a loss on the road to No. 1 USC, 16-10. After three close, intense quarters, LBSU struggled in the last eight minutes and fell to the top ranked team in the nation. Junior Ellie Goren led the team with three goals, an assist and a field block. Elisa Portillo added three goals as well while Chelsea Oliver notched seven saves in the cage.
The Toronto Golden Jets have been touring California and played five matches in the past week as they dropped contests against Cal Lutheran, 8-7 and Concordia, 7-4, Loyola Marymount, 12-10 and California Baptist, 13-4. The Golden Jets defeated Occidental College, 12-6, to close a 1-4 week.
After hosting the Golden Jets, the Beach will head to Irvine for the Barbara Kalbus Invitational as they open the tournament facing No. 10 Arizona State on Friday at 11:20 a.m. The Beach will then play three more games as part of the tournament.
First sprint for the exhibition match against Toronto is scheduled for 6 p.m. and live stats can be followed on thefosh.net.
