Alice and John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic ends first day with Jasmine Leovao in Top 10.
PALM DESERT, Calif. – Junior Jasmine Leovao is in the Top 10 individually as Long Beach State sits in fourth place after the opening day of their home tournament the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic.
Long Beach State is fourth place in the 21-team field after the first 18 holes from Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif. Five-over par as a team, Long Beach State trails only Oregon, USC and San Jose State after the first day of action.
Day 1 Results
Junior Jasmine Leovao recorded her 10th round of the season at par or under, a one-under 70 to rank among the day's leaders, standing alone in ninth place on Saturday. Sophomore Erin Lee shot a one-over 72, second best on the day for the Beach to place 20th overall.
Janae Leovao was one stroke back of that, carding a 73 while Madison Le was the team's fourth scorer with a three over 74. Graduate Hannah Jugar was just one stroke behind that with a 75 to start the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic.
Among the individuals, newcomer Isabelle Olivas-Lowell had her best round at the Beach so far with a 77. Kristina Ponomareva finished the day with a 90, and sophomore Andee Avery did not start the round Saturday.
