Women’s Tennis Completes First Of Three Days At CSUN Fall Invitational

Cecilia Costa and Thea Jagare claimed a big doubles win over BYU.
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Long Beach State picked up three wins over the first day of action at the CSUN Fall Invitational, the final event of the first semester for Beach Tennis.
Playing a hidden dual format, Long Beach State's six competing players combined for three doubles matches and six singles matches, but with mixed up opponents across four schools in BYU, Nevada, New Mexico and the hosts CSUN.
In doubles, Long Beach State picked up a victory over BYU's Karina Mohamad and Bella Lewis, as Thea Jagare and Cecilia Costa outlasted the Cougars 7-5 in a great match. BYU won the other match with Long Beach State, as Begeson and Yan Tan defeated Paulina Franco and Johanna Hiesmair, while the hosts pair of Emma Mortalla Sanz and Vitoria Solis Urdiales defeated Daisy Carpenter and Diana De Simone 6-4.
In singles, Logn Beach State had two wins on the day. De Simone defeated Petra Janigova of Nevada 6-1, 5-7, 6-3, and Paulina Franco defeated Vianca Corley of New Mexico in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Long Beach State will be back in Northridge for day two of the tournament on Saturday.
