Senior Martina Cardona Named Women’s Water Polo Big West Player Of The Week

The senior led the team in offense recording 12 goals on the weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Big West announced Wednesday that senior attacker Martina Cardona was awarded Big West Player of the Week honors. Cardona led the team on offense scoring 12 goals during the weekend.
The Beach (2-4) traveled to Northern California for the Cal Cup where they faced four Top 10 teams. Cardona scored a career-high of six goals on the loss against No. 4 California, 16-11. The senior had a 75% shooting efficiency on the day while also adding four steals and four assists on the weekend. During the match against the Bears, Cardona netted her 100th goal as a Long Beach State player. On the overtime loss to No. 9 Fresno State, the senior added four goals, while also adding a pair against defending National Champions No. 1 UCLA.
No. 10 Long Beach State travels to San Diego for the Triton Invite hosted by UCSD. The first match will be on Friday at 5:20 p.m. against No. 18 San Diego State. The following matches will depend on the result of the match up against the Aztecs.
