A busy stretch to start the season comes to a close in Fort Collins.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a win and a podium finish in the team's first two tournaments, Long Beach State Women's Golf will close out a busy start to the season with a third tournament in three weeks at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Long Beach State opened the season by capturing the team title at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, winning by six strokes in New Mexico, and then was third among 16 teams at the Leadership and Golf Invitational earlier this week at Chambers Bay Golf Course in Washington.
Junior Janae Leovao placed third at that tournament with a trio of under-par rounds to finish at 6-under par, and she will lead the Long Beach State lineup this coming week at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. Jasmine Leovao was the top finisher for the Beach at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, finishing as the runner-up with an 8-under par 208 in that tournament before finishing behind Janae, but still in the Top 15 while in Washington.
Sophomore Andee Avery will play third for the Beach. Tied for 5th overall in New Mexico, the defending Big West Freshman of the Year placed third on the team last week at the Leadership and Golf Invitational. Graduate transfer Hannah Jugar will ender the lineup proper for the first time this week as well, playing fourth for Long Beach State. Jugar debuted for Long Beach State in New Mexico with a season-best 71 in her second round. Finally Junior Madison Le will close out the lineup for Long Beach State.
Hosted by Colorado State, the field includes three additional Big West programs in Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton and UC Davis, as well as Colorado, Grand Canyon, Nevada, San Diego State, Washington State and Wyoming.
