
Junior Janae Leovao Takes Third At Leadership And Golf Invitational

Leovao climbed one spot with a final day 71 from Chambers Bay Golf Course.
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Janae Leovao climbed one spot on the leaderboard to finish on the podium at the Leadership and Golf Invitational, finishing 6-under par to place third overall in the 90-golfer field from Washington.
Leovao started the final day tied for fourth place overall at 5-under par, and utilized a stretch where the junior had three birdies in four holes to shoot a one-under 71 to lead the way for Long Beach State.
As a team, the Beach also had a big day, rising up to third place overall as a team and finishing in front of Oregon State, San Diego State, Gonzaga, Washington and Colorado. With the third-best score of the day, Long Beach State climbed four spots and finished third overall behind USC and Grand Canyon.
Jasmine Leovao matched Janae with the best score of the day for Long Beach State, also recording a 71 Tuesday, while sophomores Andee Avery and Erin Lee both had scores of 74 on the day. Avery finished 30th overall while Lee's final counting score helped keep the Beach on the podium while finishing 48th overall. Junior Madison Le shot a final day 76, finishing one stroke behind Lee for the tournament in 53rd overall.
Long Beach State's busy start to the season continues next week, when the Beach will take part in the Ptarmigan Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State from Fort Collins, Colo.
