Men’s Water Polo Dominates On The First Home Games

Beach scored 64 goals in the day to win three games in the day.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 10 Long Beach State won all three games of the day.
The first win of the day came against Westcliff by 20-9. Caleb Francisco put the Beach on the board first, followed by Riley Catino for 2-0. Francisco would score another one and increase the Beach lead. Westcliff's Manuel Augusto scored two back to back goals and first quarter ended 3-2. In the second quarter the Beach extended their lead and ended the half up 9-4. Redshirt Freshman goalie Joe Jenness made his debut for the Beach playing the second half of the game and recording 11 saves. The Beach maintened their lead and won the game 20-9. Francisco led the team with five goals and Catino ended with his first hat-trick of the season. Keegan Moore, Michael Soybel and Itai Roth all scored a pair of goals. Jackson Bryson, Nicolas Fuchs, Botond Hajdu, Alec Johnson and brothers Alex and Luke Makshanoff completed the scoresheet.
On the second game of the day the Beach defeated Biola 18-8. Senior Liam Ward collected eight saves, two being from a five meter penalty shot. The Eagles were first on board with Nolan Rapp scoring on a extra man situation. Freshman Gabi Acosta made his debut for the Beach and scored two back to back goals to put the Beach on the lead for the first quarter. The Beach kept the lead at half 10-4 and had a 7-0 run on the third to extend their lead. Even losing the last quarter 3-1, the Beach got their fourth win in a row with the game ending 18-8. Acosta had a hat-trick, Bruno Chiappini, Marc Frigola, Nicolas Fuchs and Corbin Stanley scored a pair of goals in the win. Riley Catino, Caleb Francisco, Botond Hadju, Alec Johnson, Keegan Moore, Jason O'Donnell and Harper Stewart all helped the team with one goal each.
Closing the triple header, the Beach defeated No. 18 Brown 26-6. The mark of 26 goals is the 5th in history of the program. The Beach was led by Gabi Acosta and Bruno Chiappini with 4 goals each in the win. Senior Aaron Wilson recorded 11 saves in the match. Marc Frigola and Kostantinos Kapragkos both scored a hat-trick to help the team. Riley Catino and Itai Roth notched a pair of goals and Nicolas Fuchs, Caleb Francisco, Nikola Jancic, Alex and Luke Makshanoff, Jovan Mandic completed the scoresheet of the day.
