Women’s Golf Tied For Second At Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational After Two Rounds

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Long Beach State challenged for the lead throughout the first day of competition in the 2024-25 season and after 36 holes, women's golf was tied for second place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico.
Junior Jasmine Leovao impressed to start the year, shooting a 6-under par 66 in her first competitive round of the season, leading the 84 golfer field after the first 18 holes. Her second round 74 still kept her well positioned, in third place overall and just two strokes out of the individual lead.
Sophomore Andee Avery shot a first round 72 to help her to a tie for 15th place overall, while junior Janae Leovao sits in a tie for 29th aver two rounds with a 73 and a 76.
Sophomore Erin Lee, making just her third career appearance in the lineup for Long Beach State, started the day with a 78 but shared the lineup's best second round with Jasmine Leovao, carding a 74 to finish Monday. Junior Madison Le shot a first round 73 before having the drop score in the afternoon round.
Graduate Transfer Hannah Jugar played her first two rounds at the Beach as an individual. Coming from Redlands as a four-time first team All-American, Jugar got off to a slow start in round one but had the best second round of the six LBSU competitors with a 71 to finish the day.
UNLV closed Monday in front of the team competition at even par, while Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State were tied for second place in the 15-team field with 18 holes still to play. The final round will be held Tuesday, September 10 with live scoring available via Golfstat at https://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=teamPlayer&tid=29231.
