Denson was the leading rebounder for Pacific last season, and has one year of eligibility remaining.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – A versatile and proven Division I transfer is the latest to join Long Beach State Men's Basketball, as Chris Acker and his staff have secured the commitment of Cam Denson from Pacific.
Cam Denson
Guard/Forward, 6-7, 210
Compton, Calif. (Compton HS/Odessa CC/Triton CC)
Pacific
Denson comes to the Beach from Pacific, where he played in 64 games over the last two seasons. Starting 29 games in 2023-24, Denson averaged 8.5 points per game last year while leading the Tigers both in rebounding and blocked shots. He had a pair of double-doubles during the year, including a career-high 23 points with 10 rebounds against Pepperdine. Denson also led Pacific in blocked shots as a sophomore, shooting 44.8 percent from the field while playing in every game during season for the Tigers.
In 2021-22, Denson played at Triton Community College, scoring 10.1 points per game while leading the team with 7.2 rebounds per game, helping the Trojans to a 30-6 overall record, reaching the NJCAA Division I semifinals. During the COVID-affected 2020-21 campaign with Odessa College, Denson reached the NJCAA Championship for the first time as the Wranglers went 28-7 overall.
Acker on Denson:
"Toughness, strength and a defensive mindset are the first words that come to mind when I speak about Cam. He's from Long Beach and wants to come back here to win. I'm so proud and excited for him to choose our program to play his last season. I could tell right away when I met with him he was on a mission and has a burning desire to exceed expectations. I am motivated by his mentality and will lean on his experience to help lead and anchor us defensively this upcoming season."
Denson is the sixth Division I transfer joining the program along with Devin Askew, Ramel Lloyd Jr., Austin Johnson, TJ Wainwright and Derrick Michael Xzavierro. Those six players join junior college transfer Christian Richardson, three returners and incoming freshmen Kam Martin and Andrew Nagy as the roster comes closer to completion.
