Women’s Golf Tied For Fifth Place After Day Two At NCAA Regionals

Jasmine Leovao remains in the Top 10 after a second straight even par 72.

CLE ELUM, Wash. – Long Beach State held its position in the Top 5 after the second round of three from Tumble Creek Club in Washington behind strong days from twin sisters Jasmine and Janae Leovao.
 
                Jasmine Leovao finished the day tied for seventh place overall following another 72, her second consecutive day of even par play from Cle Elum. Janae Leovao made a big climb up the leaderboard, rising 20 spots after a 73, one of the better scores from the field on a windy day at Tumble Creek Club.
 
                Freshman Andee Avery remained in the Top 20 of the 67-golfer field Tuesday with a 78, while senior Angelina Kim was Long Beach State's fourth and final counting score in the second round with an 80.
 
                The final day of action is shaping up to be very exciting, with Long Beach State and San Jose State sharing the fifth and final qualifying team spot for the NCAA Championships with 18 holes to play. The Beach and the Spartans sit three strokes in front of Kansas and four strokes behind Arizona State entering Wednesday's final round.

Long Beach State is seeking its first trip to the NCAA Championships; Kay Hoey twice represented LBSU as an individual in 2005 and 2007.
