FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—  Omri Shiff advanced to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 400m hurdles Friday to highlight Long Beach State's performances in the NCAA West Regional First Round at John McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas. 

Shiff recorded a time of 50.55, the fourth fastest time in school history, to finish 10th in the event. The semifinals in Eugene, Ore., are Wed. June 5, at 6:30 p.m.

Kash Powell ran 1:49.78 in his quarterfinal heat of the 800m. His performance resulted in an 18th finish in the 24-man field. 

Canaan Wharry  charted a career-best in the discus, 180-4. He finished 21st in the field of 48, improving upon his seed by 23 positions.  

LaSalle Jackson posted a leap of 50-7 1/4 in the triple jump. Jackson, who was seeded 34th coming into the meet, finished 20th. 

Novye' James finished 23rd in the triple jump as he went 50-4 1/2. 

Kyle Jankans cleared 6-10 3/4 in the high jump before going out at the following height, 7-0 1/4. He tied for 25th overall with two others. 

Elijah Harris fouled on each of his three triple jump attempts. 

UP NEXT
Hailey Fune' runs the quarterfinals of the 100m hurdles at 4:15 p.m. PDT/6:15 CDT in the lone race for Long Beach State on Saturday. On Saturday, ESPN+ coverage will stream from 3-7 p.m. PDT/5-9 p.m. CDT.
