
Sophomore Jasmine Leovao To Make Long Beach State’s Third Individual Appearance In NCAA Championship

Only Long Beach State Hall of Famer Kay Hoey has previously made the NCAA finals with Women’s Golf.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Sophomore Jasmine Leovao continues her history-making career, as the back-to-back Big West Individual Champion was the qualifying individual from the Cle Elum Regional, and will make Long Beach State's third-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship.
As the top individual from a non-advancing team, Leovao was one of six total individuals who will join the 30 competing teams for the 2024 NCAA Championship, held from May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif., very close to home for the Oceanside native.
Leovao earned First Team All-Big West honors for the second time in two years after repeating at the Individual Champion at the Big West Championships in 2024, the first back-to-back champion in 20 years while also leading Long Beach State to their fifth Big West team championship.
Long Beach State won a program record three team championship in 2024, including The Clash At Boulder Creek where Leovao set a new school record for the lowest single round, and 8-under par 64 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City. Nev.
Long Beach State Hall of Famer Kay Hoey is the only other women's golfer to compete in the NCAA Finals for Long Beach State. Playing in Regionals as an at-large individual in both 2005 and 2007, Hoey would advance to the NCAA Championship in both seasons. Hoey's best finish came in 2005, a tie for 27th overall. Leovao is just the eighth individual Big West representative at the NCAA Championship.
As an individual, Leovao will have the opportunity to compete over the first four days of the championship which will feature 72 holes of stroke play. All competitors will play 54 holes over the first three days, one round per day. For the final round, the field will be cut to the low 15 teams and the low 9 individuals not on those teams.
The tournament will feature live coverage on Golf Channel throughout the championship, and live scoring will be provided at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournament-leaderboard/232809/scoring/team.
