LONG BEACH, Calif.— Long Beach State saw their tremendous season recognized with four pairs being named All-Big West. For three consecutive seasons, The Beach has had four pairs earn Conference awards. The Big West announced the winners on Thursday.
Recently named First Team All-Americans, Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah were once again named to the All-Big West First Team for their efforts at the first flight. They only dropped one match during the conference championship to add to their impressive 26-9 record for the season.
Julia Westby and Savannah Standage were also named to the All-Big West First Team because of their stunning conference record. Playing exclusively at the second flight, the duo has not dropped a single set in conference all year. They took down Cal Poly at the Big West Challenge in March and did it again but this time, to be the dual clinching point that advanced the Beach to the Big West final.
The third flight duo of Mo Gibson and Natalie Glenn were given the All-Big West Second Team honor with an 18-6 record for the season. They were the only duo to win a match against Hawai'i on the first day of the Big West Championship along with other top wins.
The pair of Christine Deroos and Megan Widener were given All-Big West Honorable Mentions. The duo dominated earlier in the season with a 15 win-streak among their 21 wins.
Long Beach State Beach Volleyball has advanced to the postseason for the sixth time in program history, and will open their third appearance in the NCAA Championship against Cal on Friday, May 3.
