Long Beach State Men’s Golf Earns No. 9 Seed At The Chapel Hill Regional

The NCAA Regional begins on Monday, May 13 at the Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, North Carolina
INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship Regional selections were announced on Wednesday, and Long Beach State earned a No. 9 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional which will begin on Monday, May 13 at the Finley Golf Club.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals (not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals (not on those teams) will compete at each of the three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals (not on those same teams). The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals, which take place Friday, May 24 – Wednesday, May 29 at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Long Beach State will be making its sixth appearance in the NCAA Regionals (2000, 2004, 2012, 2021, 2023, 2024), and their third in the last four years.
The Beach, which are ranked No. 53, have recorded five Top 5 finishes and have won two tournament titles this season.
LBSU kicked off the season with a tournament title at the Ram Masters Invitational in September. The squad shot 270-280-275 for an 825, 15-under par performance as they were led by sophomore Jack Cantlay and senior Clay Seeber. The duo finished in a tie for second place as they both fired a 4-under showing.
Just yesterday, Long Beach captured its second-straight Big West Championship with a 14-under par, 850 performance after shooting 286-281-283 over three rounds. At The Big West, LBSU was led by Seeber who came in second after shooting 10-under par for the tournament. Overall, the Beach had three players (Seeber, Steen Zeman, and Charlie Forster) finish in the Top 10 and all five place in the Top 15.
The Chapel Hill Regional will be hosted by the University of North Carolina, which is the top seed in the tournament. Rounding out the regional field are No. 2 seed Alabama, No. 3 seed Georgia Tech, No. 4 seed East Tennessee State, No. 5 seed Northwestern, No. 6 seed Baylor, No. 7 seed VCU, No. 8 seed LMU, No. 9 seed Long Beach State, No. 10 seed Clemson, No. 11 seed Michigan State, No. 12 seed Ball State, and No. 13 seed Howard.
