Graduate Steen Zeman had the day’s lowest round to climb into a tie for second place.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Excellent second days from Steen Zeman and Jack Cantlay helped Long Beach State rally on the second day of the NCAA Columbus Regional, moving up four spots to take over the critical fifth place with one day remaining in the tournament.

Day Two Results

Zeman had the lowest round of the day, a three-under par 68 helped by six birdies to lift the graduate student up to a tie for second place overall, rising 18 spots on the day. Senior Jack Cantlay also had a strong day, using an eagle on the Par 5 fourth to wrap up Tuesday with an even par 71, also climbing up the leaderboard into the Top 10 with Zeman.

Three straight birdies over his first three holes helped Alejandro de Castro Piera manage a 73 in the second round, while Krishnav Chopraa and Jaden Huggins both shot 78.

As a team, Long Beach State rose four spots to take over fifth place. The top five teams following Tuesday's third and final round will advance to the NCAA Championships, held at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad.
