Freschlin Finishes Second In Men's Javelin

Day 1 Results

LA JOLLA, Calif.—On Friday, a school record highlighted day one for the Long Beach State men's and women's track and field teams at UC San Diego's Triton Invitational.
 
WOMEN
Rori Denness-Lamont tied her school record in the javelin, 174-5, with her second throw of the day. Denness-Lamont previously threw 174-5 at the Challenge Cup on Mar. 15. She would win the event by almost 10 feet against the second-place competitor, Marian Castro (Unattached).
 
Giszelle Hrehor finished seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 178-6. She also placed sixth in the discus with a season-best throw of 134-8.
 
Keeley Rasmussen placed 11th in the hammer, while Faitalia Ah-Fook placed 13th (158-1). Rasmussen threw 133-5 in the discus to finish eighth.
 
MEN
Nikolaj Freschlin earned second when he recorded a toss of 206-1 on his sixth and final throw. He was the top collegiate thrower in the competition.
 
Sophomore Conrad Bernstein reset his career best in the javelin, posting a mark of 204-11. He finished third overall.
 
UP NEXT
The Triton Invitational concludes on Saturday in La Jolla.
