No. 7 Long Beach State Grabs Two Wins On Senior Day

The Beach remained undefeated at home as they swept Cal State LA at the LBSU Sand Courts.
LONG BEACH, Calif. — No. 7 Long Beach State went 5-0 in both of their matches against Cal State LA in their final matches of the season at the LBSU Sand Courts.
The first match saw the fourth flight pair of Emily Sparks and Haley Carrington hold their opponents to only seven points in the second set. The second flight pair also had total control of their game as they finished 21-10 in their second set. The dual was won by the fifth flight pair of Livi Narancich and Kate Stoughton. The sophomore duo had a back and forth first set but found their footing and had no problem finishing the game in two sets.
The rematch again saw the Beach win all five matches in straight sets. Senior Emily Sparks and her partner Megan Widener played a dominant game to earn Long Beach State (24-7) their first dual point. The winning point came from Senior Christine Deroos and Haley Carrington and their dominant performance over the Golden Eagles (2-11). They held their opponents to only three points in the first set and continued that energy through the second set. The fifth flight pair of Kate Stoughton and Livi Narancich completed the sweep for the Beach with their second win of the day over the Golden Eagles.
Long Beach State will host the Big West Championships at the LBCC Sand Courts on April 25 and 26.
