The tournament will be played over three days starting April 14 at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The regular season for women's golf reaches its culmination this coming weekend as the Beach takes part in the Big West Championship from Las Vegas at Spanish Trail Country Club.
Sophomore Jasmine Leovao won the individual championship last season in 2023 on the same course as Long Beach State comes in among the competitive favorites at the tournament.
Long Beach State, Cal Poly and UC Davis based on the rankings would have to be considered the primary contenders over the three-day tournament. Cal Poly has earned a share of the team title in each of the last three years and bested the Beach last season, who came in second place in 2023. The Mustangs are one spot behind Long Beach State in the final rankings prior to the tournament at No. 82, while UC Davis is ranked No. 85 for the three league teams ranked in the national Top 100.
Janae Leovao will lead the lineup for Long Beach State. The sophomore was named the April Golfer of the Month, coming in on great form after a podium finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. Finishing at 4-under par after three straight consecutive rounds under par at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes resort in Arizona, Leovao led the five golfers for LBSU who all finished in the top third of the 118 golfer field.
Long Beach State's lineup will follow the order of finish from that tournament on April 3-4. True freshman Andee Avery had her best tournament since February, finishing in the Top 10 after firing a final round 70. Avery kicked off the spring season with an outstanding result, finishing in the Top 10 at the GCU Invitational and is one of the favorites to claim the Big West Freshman of the Year award this coming season.
Defending individual medalist Jasmine Leovao will play third for the Beach, while fellow sophomore Madison Le will play fourth. Le had a Top 10 finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational as an individual at the end of March. Finally, senior Angelina Kim will round out the lineup in her final Big West Championship. Kim had a Top 10 finish at the Silicon Valley Showcase with a final round 68 at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, Calif., and has been in Long Beach State's top two finishers twice during the spring season.
Live scoring for all three rounds will be provided through Golfstat at https://results.golfstat.com//public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=participants&tid=28695.
