No. 10 Long Beach State Heads to No. 13 UC Santa Barbara To Open Conference Play

The Beach will take on the Gauchos at Noon on Saturday, March 9.
The Beach enters the weekend 10-6 after going 2-0 in the Claremont Convergence, picking up wins over Mount St. Mary's and No. 22 Long Island. Mariah Walker led all players with nine goals over the weekend. Lara Luka scored her 50th goal of the season in the win against Long Island.
Luka has been dominant this season as she leads the team in scoring with 50 goals. Behind her is sophomore, Elisa Portillo with 30, followed by Walker with 29. Defensively, Chelsea Olivier has 67 saves on the season and Portillo leads the team with 21 steals
No. 13 UCSB (12-8) enters Saturday after finishing 1-1 on the weekend, including a win at No. 16 UC Davis. They are led by Juju Amaral and Leigh Lyter who each have 29 goals on the season. The Beach are 31-24 all time against the Gauchos.
Rachael Kowalchick is just four goals away from reaching the career milestone of 100 goals. She would be the 22nd player in the school's history to reach this mark. She has 12 goals on the season.
