Two Beach Entries Reset Career Bests In the Triple Jump

MIKE FANELLI TRACK CLASSIC RESULTS
LONG BEACH, Calif.—The Long Beach State men's and women's track and field teams completed competition at the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Classic on Saturday.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS AT STANFORD
Novye' James reset his career best as he went 51-3 to take the runner-up honors in the invitational triple jump.
Elijah Harris also recorded a career-best 51-0 3/4 to finish third in the invitational triple jump.Â
LaSalle Jackson also registered a season-best in the triple jump, 49-11 3/4, to be fifth in the invitational triple jump.
Daniel Palacio finished fourth in the pole vault (16-9 1/2).Â
The 800m featured 59 runners running in eight heats. Kash Powell went 1:48.81 in his first 800m effort of the season. It was the fastest time recorded by an LBSU 800m runner this season, resulting in a sixth-place showing.Â
Long Beach State entered three other runners in the 800m. Alex Kalmar recorded a career-best 1:49.83 to finish 15th. Freshman Cameron Rhone registered a season-best 1:51.24 to finish 24th. Cristian Martinez was 54 (1:54.20).Â

KiiKii Brown was the lone Long Beach State women's competitor on Saturday. She finished 17th in a field of 30 in the collegiate triple jump (38-0).

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS AT THE MIKE FANELLI CLASSIC
Jay Brown and Kyle Reden competed in the 800m. Coming into the event, 253 entries were spread over 23 heats. 213 would take time.Â
Reden ran a season-best 1:51.40 to finish eighth. Brown also put up a season-best, 1:52.54 to come in 28th.Â

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS AT THE MIKE FANELLI CLASSIC
Leia Jones was the lone Long Beach State women's entry running on Saturday. She was in the 800m race, featuring 217 entries spread over 19 heats, with 176 running the event. Jones lowered her season-best by nearly five seconds to 2:12.99 to win her heat and finish 21st overall.Â
