Women’s Golf Rallies On Day Two Of Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

The Beach had the sixth-best team score in a stacked field with one more round to play.
LIHUE, Hawaii – Janae and Jasmine Leovao both rallied with great rounds on the second day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational while sophomore Madison Le remained in the Top 10 after 36 of 54 holes from Ocean Course Hokuala.
Le, participating as an individual as she returns to action, shot a two-under par 70 with five birdies and an eagle on seven to finish the day in a tie for 7th place overall, 5-under for the tournament through two rounds.
Among the team scores, Janae Leovao had a great day with seven birdies on the way to a 4-under par 68, while her sister Jasmine was also under par, riding a 10th hole eagle to a 71 on Monday. Angelina Kim finished three over par with a 75, while freshman Andee Avery was Long Beach State's other scoring round on the day, a 5-over par 77.
Kristina Ponomareva, Long Beach State's other individual at the tournament, was one stroke behind Avery on the day with a 78 and shares an 11-over score through two rounds with the freshman. The Beach moved up past Hawai'i and is within striking distance of a big climb on Tuesday with a good round.
Long Beach State closes out the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational with a final round Tuesday. Tee time is set for Noon Pacific, with coverage at https://smartgolf.online/current_tournament.
