Women’s Golf Off To Slow Start At Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

The Beach was led by Janae Leovao in the first round Sunday, while sophomore Madison Le had a strong day as an individual.
LIHUE, Hawaii – Sophomore Madison Le finished the opening day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational from Kaua'i in the Top 10, tied for 6th place overall with a 3-under par 69 on Sunday as an individual to highlight the day for the Beach.
Still recovering from an injury sustained that held the sophomore out of the GCU Invitational, Le was held out of the official lineup for Long Beach State but had a phenomenal day, finishing with three birdies and just one bogey on the Ocean Course Hokuala.
Sophomore Janae Leovao was the top scoring player for the Beach, recording an eagle on the par 5 second hole and closing the day three-over par with a 75. Angelina Kim, Jasmine Leovao and Andee Avery all finished with scores of 78 on Sunday, while true freshman Erin Lee was the drop score. Kristina Ponomareva also competed as an individual and shot a 77 with a three-hole run of birdies on the day.
