Women’s Golf Finishes In Sixth At GCU Invitational

Andee Avery shot her third round under par in the tournament to finish at 5-under and finish in the Top 10.
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Long Beach State shot 6-under par as a team on the final day of the GCU Invitational, and finished in sixth place overall in the team's return to tournament competition as part of a 21-team field in Phoenix.
Freshman Andee Avery continued her strong play, finishing in the Top 10 of the tournament in a tie for 9th place overall after a final round 69, finishing at 5-under par after shooting under par in all three rounds of the tournament.
Senior Angelina Kim had a second under-par round on Wednesday, matching Avery with a 3-under par 69 to help pace the team. Jasmine Leovao was also under par in the final round for Long Beach State with a 71, and Kim and Leovao closed the tournament tied for 22nd overall at even par.
Junior Kristina Ponomareva shot a final-day 73 to serve as Long Beach State's final counting score, one stroke in front of Janae Leovao who closed out the GCU Invitational with a 74 on the GCU Golf Course, tying for 48th in the 119 golfer field.
Long Beach State will take a brief break and then get back to tournament action by returning to the Silicon Valley Showcase, hosted by Santa Clara at Green Hills Country Club beginning on Monday, March 10.
