SPOKANE, Wash.-Long Beach State won four times as the Beach lead both team-scoring races after day one of the MPSF Indoor Championships Sunday at the Podium.

MEN
Cyprus Rice was victorious in the pole vault. Rice cleared 15-7 to take home the top honor in the event.
Elijah Harris went 23-9 in the long jump to win. Harris' leap is the 10th longest in school history.
The distance relay of Alex Kalmar, Omri Shiff, Kash Powell, and Cameron Rhone rounded out Long Beach State's men's winners as the quartet won the race in a time of 9:56.52. The mark is the fourth fastest in school history.
Aidan Turner, Justice Fair, and Milo Orona tied for second in the pole as the trio each went 12-1 1/2.
Caleb Roberson tied his career-best in the 200m when he ran 21.49. His sixth-place finish is the fourth fastest in school history.
Miguel Orozco was seventh in the long jump (22-10 1/2).
Tristyn Flores recorded the eighth quickest 200m time in school history, 21.67, to finish eighth.
Mario Tavares ran the sixth quickest 5000m time in school history, 14:51.95. Tavares just missed scoring for the Beach as he came in ninth.
With six of 17 men's events scored, Long Beach State leads the team race with 64 points. CSUN (48) is in second place, followed by Portland (31), Cal State Fullerton (23), and UC Riverside (16).

WOMEN
Hailey Fune' repeated as pentathlon champion by recording a school record 3,889 points. She opened the day by running the second fastest 60m hurdles time in school history, 8:34, to win the event. Fune' finished fourth in the high jump (5-5).
The senior posted a personal best shot put performance, 36-4 1/4, to place third. Her long jump mark was 19-0 1/2, giving her a third-place showing. Fune' ran a career-best 2:33.24 in the 800m to place sixth in the race.
Upon the conclusion of the pentathlon, Fune' transitioned over to the long jump and the high jump. She went even further in the long jump, 19-1 1/4, to finish fourth.
Fune' and Jenelle Hurley posted a leap of 5-6 in the high jump. It took Hurley fewer attempts to get the mark, resulting in Hurley being awarded third place while Fune was fourth.
To top her day off, Fune' reset the school record in the 60m hurdles in qualifying when she ran 8.30. The old mark of 8:32 was set by Rahni Turner (2023). Turner lowered the mark earlier in the qualifying session to 8.31 before Fune' ran faster. Amyah Davis also qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles with the fifth-fastest time in school history, 8.58.Â
Turner's 19-4 in the long jump earned the junior runner-up honors. Her mark is the fourth longest in school history.
Giszelle Hrehor recorded a 58-3 1/4 toss to place second in the weight throw.Â
Natasha Tehrani and Annie Murphy tied for second in the pole vault as both cleared 12-9 1/2. Tehrani's mark is the fourth highest in school history.Â
Sofia Bailey finished fourth in the heptathlon with 3,588 points. She was third in the 800m (2:27.14), third in the long jump (18-2 1/2), and fourth in the shot put (36-1 1/2).
Sofia Lavreshina lowered her season best to 24.21 in the 200m, the third fastest in school history. She finished fourth overall.
Tori Plummer tied for first in the pentathlon's high jump (5-6) on her way to 3,501 points and a fifth-place showing. Her performance in the pentathlon is the sixth-best in school history. Plummer returned to finish seventh in the high jump (5-4 1/4).Â
Tayah DeSousa (18-8) was fifth, while Hurley and Kaitlyn Williams (18-7) tied for sixth in the long jump.
The distance medley relay of Marikay Schwab, Daryana Hall, Leia Jones, and Allie Scimia placed seventh by running 12:04.89. The time is the eighth fastest in school history.

With eight of 17 women's events scored, Long Beach State leads with 86 points (20 of which were scored by Fune'). Hawai'i (61.83) is second, followed by UC Davis (54.33). UC Irvine (42.5), UC Riverside (18), and San Francisco (16) are next. Portland (13), CSUN (12), Saint Mary's (6), and Cal State Fullerton (2.33) round out the table.
