The star of the league’s inaugural “Bold Week”, Askew led Long Beach State to a pair of wins to kick off Big West play.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior Devin Askew was named the Big West Player of the Week on December 9, recognizing a pair of standout performances against Cal State Fullerton and Hawai'i.
With league play beginning with two early December games as part of Bold Week, it was Askew that helped Long Beach State snap a losing streak in the team's most important games so far and opening Big West action with a 2-0 record.
Starting the week on the road at Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State never trailed against the Titans as Askew led all scorers with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in a 73-56 win.
Askew then filled up the stat sheet against Hawai'i, finishing with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals in a win over the Rainbow Warriors. The senior point guard is just one of 15 players in the nation this year to have seven or more steals in a game, and led all players in both points and assists in the game.
