Beach Women's Volleyball Hosts UC San Diego, Hawaii This Week At The Walter Pyramid 
The Long Beach State Women's Volleyball team continues its homestand as the Beach welcome UC San Diego and Hawaii to the Walter Pyramid for a pair of Big West contests. LBSU and UC San Diego will meet on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., before the Beach host the Rainbow Wahine on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.

In The Rankings
• Long Beach State is 7-5 on the year and 1-1 in Big West play. The Beach are not currently ranked in the AVCA/Taraflex Division I Poll. LBSU sits in fourth place in The Big West standings.
• UC San Diego, which is 6-6 over and 0-2 in Big West action, is not ranked nor receiving votes in the AVCA/Taraflex Division I Poll. The Tritons are currently ninth in The Big West standings.
• Hawaii, which brings a 9-4 overall record and a 2-0 conference mark into the week, is not ranked, but is receiving votes.The Rainbow Wahine are second in conference standings.

About the Beach
• Long Beach State brings a 7-5 overall record, and a 1-1 Big West mark, into the week. The Beach have won four of their last five contests.
• During the preseason, the Beach picked up key wins over then-No. 1 Texas, Indiana, and Arizona. LBSU took down the defending National Champion Longhorns in four sets at the Walter Pyramid to open the season. The Beach also picked up a 3-1 win over Indiana marking the program's first win over a Big Ten opponent since 2015. Most recently, Long Beach swept Arizona on the road, which was the first road sweep over a Pac-12 opponent since 1992.
• LBSU is looking to bounce back from a close, 3-1 [23-25, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25], loss to UC Santa Barbara last Saturday.
• As a team, Long Beach State ranks in the top three in The Big West statistical categories. The Beach rank second in the conference with 12.07 assists per set and their 12.98 kills per set are good for third in the league.
• Redshirt sophomore setter Zayna Meyer has paced the Beach, distributing 9.86 assists per set to rank second in The Big West. On the year, Meyer has contributed on all sides of the ball with 2.61 digs per set, 0.89 kills per set, 0.57 blocks per set, and 0.32 aces per set. She leads the team with seven double-doubles on the year.
• Junior outside hitter Elise Agi is the team's leader in scoring as she averages 3.14 kills per set. Agi has led the Beach in kills on six separate occasions this season, including a career-high 19-kill performance against New Mexico State. She has also registered four double-doubles on the season.
Savana Chacon is the team's libero. The junior from Crown Point, Ind., anchors the backrow with 4.02 digs per set which is good for fourth in The Big West. She also adds 1.23 assists per set. Chacon has led the Beach in digs nine times this season and has recorded 11 double-digit dig performances.
• At the net, Long Beach is led by junior middle blocker Kameron Bacon who has put up 44 blocks (4 solos, 40 assists) this year to average 1.13 blocks per set which is good for seventh in the conference. Bacon has led the Beach in blocking eight times this season.
• Junior outside hitter Natalie Glenn is coming off of a career-performance last week. The product out of Southlake, Texas racked up a career-high 21 kills against Cal Poly last Friday. She went on to hit .472 (21-4-36) in the match, while also contributing eight digs, four blocks, and two aces in the contest. On the year, Glenn is averaging 2.66 kills per set, 1.45 digs per set, and 0.48 blocks per set.
• Long Beach State will host the inaugural Big West Women's Volleyball Championships this season, which will take place at the Walter Pyramid November 22, 24, and 25. The winner of the championship will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
• This season, Long Beach State has been chosen to finish third in The Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Beach garnered 82 points and one first-place vote coming in just one point behind second place UC Santa Barbara. Hawaii, which collected 100 points and 10 first-place votes, was chosen as the preseason favorite.

Scouting UC San Diego
• UC San Diego comes into the match against Long Beach State with an 8-6 overall record.
• The Tritons are 0-2 in Big West action this season as they are looking for their first conference win of the year.
• UCSD opened Big West play last week with a 3-0 loss to UC Santa Barbara on Friday, followed by a 3-2 setback to Cal Poly on Saturday. 
• As a team, the Tritons are hitting .208 on the year with 12.06 kills per set and 11.07 assists per set.
• Defensively, UCSD averages 13.91 digs per set, 2.66 blocks per set, and 1.65 aces per set.
• Ava McInnes is the Tritons' leading scorer as she averages 3.93 kills per set on a .260 attack percentage. McInnes also contributes 1.80 digs per set, 0.69 blocks per set, and is tied for the team lead with 17 aces.
• At setter, Nevada Knowles paces the Tritons with 6.83 assists per set, while adding 1.96 digs per set, and 0.46 kills per set. Lauren Brooker has also seen some action at setter as she has chipped in 3.06 assists per set thus far.
• Natalie Repetti is the team's libero as she has logged 180 digs to average 3.53 digs per set. Hot on her heels is Zaria Henderson who adds 2.30 digs per set.
• Emily McDaniel and Jasmine Saran are the Tritons' blocking leaders. McDaniel leads the way with 1.51 blocks per set, and Saran adds 1.02 blocks per set.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Tritons
Long Beach State and UC San Diego will meet for just the sixth time in program history. Overall, the Beach have won all five previous meetings as LBSU owns a 5-0 record over the Tritons. In their last meeting, Long Beach State downed UC San Diego in straight sets on Nov. 18, 2022 at the Walter Pyramid. The Tritons, meanwhile, are looking to secure their first victory over the Beach in program history.

Scouting Hawaii
• Hawaii comes into the week with a 9-4 overall record and a 2-0 Big West mark.
• The Rainbow Wahine are on a four-match winning streak after sweeping matches over Western Carolina, Florida State, Cal State Bakersfield, and CSUN over the last two weeks.
• As a team, the Wahine are hitting .227, while averaging 13.53 kills per set and 12.67 assists per set.
• On the defensive end, Hawaii is averaging 15.14 digs per set, 2.20 blocks per set, and 1.31 aces per set.
• Amber Igiede is Hawaii's leading scorer with 3.76 kills per set on a .420 attack percentage. Igiede is the reigning Big West Player of the Week having earned the honors three times this season. In addition, Igiede also registers a team-leading 1.20 blocks per set, 1.04 digs per set, and has served up 10 aces on the year.
• Kate Lang is the Wahine's setter with a conference-leading 10.67 assists per set. Lang has been named Big West Setter of the Week for five weeks running now. In addition to leading the squad in assists, Lang also adds 2.27 digs per set and 0.39 blocks per set, while totaling nine aces.
• Talia Edmonds has recorded 3.59 digs per set in the backcourt for Hawaii. She also posts 0.71 assists per set and has served up 11 aces this season.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Rainbow Wahine
Long Beach State and Hawaii will face each other for the 61st time in program history. In the all-time series, the Wahine lead the Beach, 39-20-1 and have won the last 11 meetings against LBSU. In their last meeting, the Beach dropped a 3-0 decision to the Wahine on Nov. 4, 2022 on the island. Long Beach State is looking for its first victory over Hawaii since 2016 when the Beach defeated the Wahine, 3-2, on November 4.

Can You Dig It?
Junior libero Savana Chacon has recorded at least 10 digs in 11 of Long Beach State's 12 matches this season. On the year, she is averaging 4.02 digs per set. Chacon kicked off the season with 14 digs against No. 1 Texas. She turned in her best showing with a career-high 29-dig performance against Washington. Most recently, she logged 18 digs against UC Santa Barbara. In The Big West, Chacon's 4.02 digs per set average ranks her fourth in the league.

Killin' It
Junior Elise Agi has adjusted to transferring to Long Beach State seamlessly. She has seen action in 10 of LBSU's 12 matches, earning a start on five separate occasions. She is currently LBSU's leading scorer with 3.14 kills per set, which ranks her seventh in The Big West. Agi recorded a career performance where she led the Beach with a career-high 19 kills, 10 digs, and five blocks in a 3-1 win over New Mexico State. This season, she has led the Beach in kills on six separate occasions and has recorded four double-doubles.

Setting the Tone
Redshirt sophomore Zayna Meyer has been a steady force for Long Beach State throughout the season. The 6-foot-1 setter has paced the Beach offense and turned in an all-around solid showing in each outing. Her 9.86 assists per set are good for second in The Big West, while she also contributes 2.61 digs per set, 0.89 kills per set, 0.57 blocks per set, while hitting .346 on the year. She currently leads the team with seven double-doubles this season.

Career Day
Junior outside hitter Natalie Glenn is coming off a career-high performance in which she knocked down 21 kills to set a new career-best. If that weren't enough, Glenn showed her proficiency hitting a career-high .472 (21-4-36) in the contest, while also adding a season-high eight digs and two aces. On the season, Glenn is averaging 2.66 kills per set on a .221 clip, while adding 1.45 digs per set and 0.48 blocks per set. This year, she has recorded nine aces to average 0.31 service aces per set. 

Next Up
Long Beach State hits the road to take on a pair of Big West opponents next week. The Beach will travel to Bakersfield, Calif., to take on the Roadrunners on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. Following that contest, LBSU will head to Northridge to face off against CSUN on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
