Elise Agi and Natalie Glenn lead the offense with 17 kills each in the straight set win

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State hit .336 and held UC San Diego to a .063 attack percentage as the Beach rolled to a 3-0 [25-20, 25-11, 25-16] sweep over the Tritons on Thursday night at the Walter Pyramid.

The Beach (8-5, 2-1 Big West) has now won five of their last six matches, while the Tritons (8-7, 0-3 Big West) have dropped their last three contests.

Everything was working for Long Beach State as the Beach played well on all sides of the ball. LBSU's offense was solid as it knocked down 54 kills, while the defense logged 59 digs and posted 8.0 total team blocks, and the serve and pass game was on-point as LBSU registered seven aces to UCSD's two.

For the fifth-straight match, junior outside hitter Elise Agi recorded a double-double as she tallied 17 kills on a .412 attack percentage, to go along with 13 digs. She also added one block, one assist, and one ace on the night.

Joining Agi with an impressive 17-kill performance was junior outside hitter Natalie Glenn who hit a hot .593 (17-1-27) in the match. Glenn also added six digs, three blocks, one assist, and one ace in an all-around effort.

Also contributing on the offensive attack was freshman middle blocker Ella Lomigora who knocked down six kills on 10 errorless swings for a .600 attack percentage. Lomigora helped patrol the net as well, putting up four blocks (1 solo, 3 assists).

Redshirt sophomore setter Zayna Meyer was excellent as she distributed 39 assists, while adding eight digs, two aces, one kill, and one block.

On blocking defense, junior middle blocker Kameron Bacon tied Lomigora for the team lead with four blocks (1 solo, 3 assists), while chipping in five kills and a dig.

Anchoring the backcourt defense was junior libero Savana Chacon who finished the contest with 16 digs, while dishing out six assists. Chacon has now recorded double-figure digs on 12 separate occasions.

With each player and position playing connecting Long Beach State opened the match with a quick 5-1 lead. Although the opening set would see eight ties, the Beach remained in control. LBSU hit .314 in the frame and used a 4-0 run to take an 18-15 lead, forcing a timeout from the Tritons. An ace from Agi gave the Beach set point and they put the game away, 25-20, on a kill from Lomigora.

The second set started just like the first, with the Beach up 5-1. However, this time Long Beach State never relinquished its lead. The Beach hit .333 in the frame and forced UCSD into a negative attack percentage (-.031). A 9-0 LBSU run broke the game wide open as the Beach took a 15-3 advantage over the Tritons, before rolling to a 25-11 victory on an ace serve from Kailia Lopez.

Long Beach State turned in a strong third set as well. The Beach hit .371 and held the Tritons to a .000 hitting percentage. Glenn knocked down a kill to even the score at 6-6, which also jump started a 7-0 run for the Beach (12-6). From there, the Beach remained in the driver's seat. Leading by as many as 11 (20-9), LBSU put the set and match away on a kill from Glenn to win 25-16.
