Long Beach State Concludes Competition at NCAA West Regionals

The Beach had three of their Big West champs in action on the final day of the regional meet.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Long Beach State wrapped up competition at the NCAA West Regionals on Saturday evening as a trio of Big West champions were in action on the track.
Final Results
Ryley Fick ran her first of two events of the evening just after the 5 p.m. mark in the 3000m Steeplechase. The school record holder crossed the line in 10:26.15 to finish eleventh in the second heat and ending up 37th in the final standings. In her second event of the day, she ran a 2:15.14 in the 800m to finish 24th overall. It is a huge 41-rank improvement in the west region for the senior to end her career.
Next in action was Rahni Turner in the 100m Hurdles. Racing in the second heat, she matches her opening round time crossing the line in 13.25 seconds. She finished fifth in her heat and 16tha overall, improving on her west ranking by six.
The final competitor was Big West Freshman of the Year, Alex Heerink-van Breda, in the 400m Hurdles. Running in the second heat, her time of 59.18 put her in seventh in the heat and 22nd overall. She moves up nine spots in the West rankings with the performance.
With the conclusion of the NCAA West Regionals, the Beach will have one student-athlete compete at the NCAA Championships with Kash Powell qualifying in yesterday's men's 800m Run. The finals will take place in Austin, Tex. in two weeks.
