Eleven Track and Field Student-Athletes Earn MPSF All-Academic Honors

The Beach continues their strong tradition of success in the classroom.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State track and field team had 11 recipients of the All-Academic MPSF Scholar-Athlete honor. The MPSF conference office announced the award winners on Monday.
The women's team had eight honorees in Hailey Danskin, Maddie DeBorde, Ryley Fick, Hailey Fune, Anitha Graves, Maggie Lear, Malia Talavou, and Rahni Turner.
On the men's side, Pablo Gamez, Nathan Garibay, and Malik Harness garnered the award as well.
To earn All-Academic status, student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. They must be a sophomore academically and completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the year in which the award is received. Lastly, the student-athlete must have completed in at least half of the team's competitions.
The Beach had a historic indoor season with both the men's and women's teams having their best performance in program history at the MPSF Championships. At that meet, they also saw Fune win the Women's Athlete of the Meet award along with seven individual event champions.
Overall, the team set four school records, 14 top three marks, and 47 top ten marks. The performance list also saw 54 new women's personal bests and 51 men's personal bests.
