Early Offense Carries Dirtbags to Series Opening Win

LBSU scored in each of the first four innings on their way to a x-x victory.
Jonathon Long started the night with fireworks launching his fifth home run in his last six games. After an Eddie Saldivar single got the ballgame started, the junior launched the first pitch he saw over the center field fence for his eighth homer of the year.

Four batters later with the bases loaded, Nick Marinconz singled through the left side to plate two more runs to cap off a four-run first inning.
The 'Bags would add three more in the second on a bases clearing triple from Kyle Ashworth into the right-center gap. They followed with one more in the third and two in the fourth, reaching double digits in just four innings.
On the mound, Graham Osman dealt with a good amount of traffic on the bases allowing five hits and four walks. In his 5.2 innings of work, he allowed four runs (three earned) while striking out two Anteaters. Despite the struggles, he still earned his fifth victory of the year.
After Osman, the pair of Kellan Montgomery and Nathen Morris locked it down the rest of the way. Combining for the final 3.1 innings, the right-handers allowed just two earned runs on four hits while striking out four.
In the box score, three Dirtbags registered three-hit nights and three others had two-hit efforts. Ashworth paced the group going 3-for-4 with a triple, run scored, and game-high four RBI. Joey Walls Jr. had arguably his best performance in a Dirtbag uniform with a 3-for-5 night with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI.
The Black and Blue Rivalry Series continues tomorrow night at Anteater Ballpark. First pitch at 6 p.m.
