Six players from the women’s side and two from the men’s earned the honor for the 2022-23 season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Big West Conference announced on Tuesday the winter Academic All-Big West lists, and eight players across Long Beach State's two basketball programs earned the honor in recognition of their combined accomplishments in the classroom and on the court.
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference honor, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative institutional grade point average (GPA), must have completed one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's contests in the student-athlete's respective sport.
For Men's Basketball, AJ George and Aboubacar Traore were both first-time honorees in their first eligible season, while Women's Basketball had six players recognized in Ma'Qhi Berry, Patricia Chung, Lauren Green, Kianna Hamilton-Fisher, Kristyna Jeskeova and Savannah Tucker.
That comes on the heels of a strong fall, where 23 players across Long Beach State's four Big West sports in that season earned Fall Academic All-Big West honors.
