The Beach fell short but earned three victories in singles action.

Long Beach, Calif. - LBSU Women's Tennis fell short in a tightly contested battle against Boston University, 4-3 at Rhodes Tennis Center.

To begin in doubles action, Peppi Ramstedt and Rhona Cook collected a 6-3 win over Michelle Kleynerman and Shelly Yaloz on court two. The duo of Ramstedt and Cook gained their eighth win of the season and now hold an 8-4 doubles record. On court three, Sarah Medik and Doga Akyurek fell to Victoria Carlsten and Emily Zhao, 6-3. Competing on court one, Sheena Masuda and Justine Dondonay encountered a tough foe. After being down 4-1 in their match against Kaitlin Tan and Erica Di Battista, Masuda and Dondonay evened the score at 5-5, but just fell short in a tight 7-6 outing.

Shifting to singles action, Victoria Carlsten garnered a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mathilde Tranberg on court three giving Boston University a 2-0 lead.

After splitting the first two sets, Michelle Kleynerman was unable to continue against Peppi Ramstedt, and Ramstedt took the first point of the day for the Beach after the retirement.

Shelly Yaloz defeated Medik on court one, 6-4, 6-1 to extend the Terriers lead to 3-1.

Clinching the Terrier's victory, Kaitlin Tan got the best of Akyurek on court four as she earned a 7-5, 6-2 win to give Boston University a 4-1 lead.

Cook defeated Di Battista on court five in a grueling second set, 7-6, winning her match in straight sets after a 6-4 first set win.

Masuda collected a tough win over Sydney Sharma on court six in a 6-4, 7-6 victory to claim the Beach's third point, ending the dual match, 4-3.

LBSU Tennis will be back in action Tuesday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at Rhodes Tennis Center when they take on Princeton.
