LBSU Tennis Continues Homestand at Rhodes Tennis Center

The Beach will face Princeton, Hawai'i, and Santa Clara for a three-game week.

WHAT'S COMING UP:     
This week the Beach have two non-conference dual matches against Princeton on Tuesday March 14 and Santa Clara on Saturday March 18 at Rhodes Tennis Center. LBSU will also take on Big West foe Hawai'i on Thursday March 16.  

ABOUT LBSU:     
For the season, the Beach have a 4-5 overall record. Peppi Ramstedt leads the Beach with a 15-7 doubles record and Sarah Medik leads the Beach with a 12-12 singles record. Additionally, Ramstedt and Rhona Cook garnered their eighth doubles victory on Thursday March 9 against Youngstown State, they currently own a 8-4 doubles record while Ramstedt and Doga Akyurek own a 3-0 doubles record. Entering their matches this week, Princeton leads the all-time series against the Beach 2-1. However, LBSU leads the all-time series against Hawai'i 19-13 and 2-1 against Santa Clara .    

ABOUT PRINCETON:     
The Tigers have started the dual season well with a 7-4 overall record. In their last dual match on Saturday February 25, Princeton picked up a tight 4-3 victory over Old Dominion. For the year, Leena Bennetto has a 16-7 singles record, while teammate Daria Frayman owns a 10-6 doubles record.    

ABOUT HAWAI'I:     
Hawai'i begin the week 3-6 in dual match play. Before taking on Long Beach State on Thursday March 16, Hawai'i will also face Big West conference foe Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday March 14. In their last scheduled dual match on Sunday March 12, competition was cancelled against Cal due to rain conditions. Their currently on a two-game losing streak and have not earned a win since their 5-2 victory over San Diego State. For the season, Ana Vilcek has a 6-1 singles record while Klara Novakova owns a 5-2 doubles record.    

ABOUT SANTA CLARA:     
The Broncos are seeking their first win of the season as they currently have a 0-7 overall record. They face Claremont on Friday March 17 before taking on Long Beach State on Saturday March 18. In their last dual match on Wednesday March 8, Santa Clara fell to San Jose State, 4-0. 

LAST TIME OUT:     
In back-to-back non-conference dual matches Long Beach State collected a victory over Youngstown State, 5-2 before dropping a competitive match against Boston University, 4-3.  

In a collective effort, the Beach were able to take down the Penguins due to strong play from Sheena Masuda, Justine Dondonay, Sarah Medik, Doga Akyurek, and Mathilde Tranberg.  

During the Beach's dual match against Boston University, it was a back-and-forth battle from both respective teams, but LBSU fell short in a close match against a tough Boston team.      

TENNIS TRADITION:      
The traditional player cheer pre-match and each time the team wins a match point is "Here We Go Beach" followed by all supporters in attendance then cheering the same "Here We Go Beach!"
