No. 7 Long Beach State Ready for First Ever Matchup with Cal State Fullerton

The Beach heads to Fullerton on Friday.
LONG BEACH, Calif.—The Beach will look to continue their winning ways as they visit Cal State Fullerton on Friday at 6 p.m. This will be Long Beach State's first ever game against the Titans.
No. 7 Long Beach State (11-4) enters the game after defeating UC San Diego 14-8 in the team's Big West Opener. Sophomore Martina Cardona led the Beach with three goals making her second on the team with 29 goals this season. Rachael Kowalchick also added two goals which brings her team leading total to 34 goals. Chelsea Oliver has been key for the Beach defense all season but has been exceptional in the most recent stretch of games. She has now recorded double digit saves in five of the last six games, including 11 saves against UC San Diego.
Cal State Fullerton (9-10) is in the midst of their inaugural season. Their most recent matchups against Westcliff saw them come away with two victories, winning each game by one goal. The Titans are led by freshman Gabrielle Zaretskiy who has 41 goals, but they also have three other 20 goal scorers on the roster.

In May 2022, Cal State Fullerton announced that they had received approval to add men's and women's water polo as a Division I sport. The inaugural season is taking place in the brand-new Titan Aquatics Center that recently opened in the Spring of last year.
