Berry, Hamilton-Fisher Lead Long Beach State Over CSUN, 87-76

Ma’Qhi Berry tallied a season-high 23 points, while Kianna Hamilton-Fisher registered 22 points in LBSU’s 14th-straight victory

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Four Long Beach State players scored in double-figures as Ma'Qhi Berry and Kianna Hamilton-Fisher each recorded 20-plus points as the Beach defeated CSUN, 87-76, on the road to extend their winning streak to 14.
The Beach (21-7, 16-2 Big West) shot 47.3 percent from the field in the game, while forcing the Matadors (7-22, 6-13 Big West) into 17 turnovers.
Berry led all scorers with a season-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block. Hamilton-Fisher finished the contest with 22 points, four assists, three blocks, two steals, and two boards.
Rounding out the double-figure scorers for the Beach were Malia Bambrick (13 points) and Tori Harris (10 points). Harris and Courtney Murphy both hit personal milestones recording their 1,000th career points in their respective Division I careers.
Murphy drained a three at 7:49 in the first quarter to put LBSU up 9-7 to mark her 1,000th-career point. The Beach had a strong first quarter going on a 9-0 run to open up a 20-9 advantage over the Matadors. Long Beach State ended the frame leading 24-17.
Harris' moment to shine came in the second quarter as the Beach went on a 12-0 scoring run capped by her 1,000th-career point on a layup. Harris was fouled on the play and went on to make the free throw to give LBSU a 42-20 lead. Despite a CSUN 9-0 run, Long Beach State held a 55-39 lead over CSUN at halftime.
Long Beach State's strong first half carried the Beach through the second half as the Matadors began to chip away at the one-time 22-point lead (42-20). By the end of the third quarter LBSU held a 16-point lead (73-57) over CSUN.
The Matadors managed to outscore the Beach, 19-14, in the final quarter. However, Long Beach State's commanding lead was unbreakable as they went on to win, 87-76.
Tess Amundsen led CSUN with 22 points, while Anaiyah Tu'ua finished the game with a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds). Jordyn Jackson led the way with 11 assists to go along with seven points.
With both Long Beach State and UC Irvine winning today, the Beach hold a two-game lead over the Anteaters with two games remaining.
Long Beach State will play its final regular season road game of the season on Thursday, March 2 at CSU Bakersfield. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
