The Beach Falls to Harvard, 5-1

Boston, Mass. - Long Beach State Women's Tennis picked up a singles victory, but fell to No. 60 Harvard, 5-1, at Murr Tennis Center.
"It was a tough match today against a very good indoor team," said LBSU Head Coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "It was a great experience for us. We'll be a better team because of this match."
In doubles action, the Beach got off to a tough start Friday afternoon. The duos of Peppi Ramstedt and Rhona Cook as well as Sarah Medik and Hana Becirovic Novak lost their respective doubles matches. Rachel Arbitman and Iveta Daujotaite garnered a 6-1 win over Ramstedt and Cook. To clinch the doubles point, Sophia Ho and Maxi Duncan defeated Medik and Becirovic Novak by a score of 6-2.
In singles action, Iveta Daujotaite collected her victory against Dondonay on court six by a score of 6-2, 6-0 to give the Crimsons a 2-0 lead.
On court four, Angel You got the best of Doga Akyurek as she picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win extending the Crimsons' lead to 3-0.
To solidify Harvard's victory, No. 85 Charlotte Owensby earned a win over Mathilde Tranberg on court two, 6-1, 6-2.
Cook defeated Sany Gawande on court five by a score of 6-3, 6-3 to give the Beach a singles victory.
To end the day, Maxi Duncan collected the Crimsons final point as she defeated Medik, 6-2, 6-4, on court one.
The Beach stay on the East Coast and travel to Hanover, N.H., to face Dartmouth Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. (PST)/1p.m. (EST).
