Three More Individual Titles, Men’s and Women’s Teams Both Finish Second at MPSF Championships

The Beach wrapped up their best indoor conference championships performance in program history
SPOKANE, Wash. – Long Beach State track and field wrapped up day two of the MPSF Championships on Saturday with three more individual champions. Both men's and women's teams finished second in the team standings as they enjoyed their best performance at the conference championships in program history.

Kaitlyn Williams collected her second championship of the day ending her weekend atop the podium for the 60m Dash. Her time of 7.40 was a new lifetime-best and moved her into second on the all-time list. She is just the second LBSU student-athlete to win two indoor titles in the same year.
Kash Powell raced his way to the gold in the 800m Race. He edged out teammate, Alex Kalmar, with a time of 1:52.42 for the top spot. Kalmar was less than half a second behind the champ with a time 1:52.70 for a new lifetime-best and eight fastest mark all-time.
The third and final title winner was Elijah Harris in the men's Triple Jump. Launching himself 14.73m (48' 4", he jumped just under two inches further than second place to take home the crown.
In total on the day, the Beach had 10 podium finishers including the three title winners. Additionally, they also totaled 10 new program top ten marks.
In the team standings, the women totaled 303.5 points for a second place finish and more than triple their best score in previous years. The men totaled 155 points on the weekend, the highest in their indoor history as well.
The next potential indoor meet for the Beach will be next weekend at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet hosted by the University of Washington. The team also awaits individual rankings for NCAA National Championships in March.
