Long Beach State finishes the tournament with a sixth-place finish

LIHUE, Kauai- Long Beach State sophomore Ian Gilligan finished tied for third at the John Burns Intercollegiate. He followed up his record-breaking performance finishing 5-under par for the final round and 17-under par for the tournament, one stroke out of first place.
Long Beach finished the tournament shooting 20-under par as a team, putting them in sixth place. BYU finished on top of the leaderboard with 54-under par, marking a new tournament record. No. 19 Arizona placed second and No. 9 Texas A&M finished third for 36- and 32-under par, respectively.
Round two continued from yesterday, followed by the third round being completed a day early due to the possibility of rain in the forecast.
No. 11 Gilligan collected four eagles and 18 birdies for the tournament, two of those eagles came in his record-breaking first round.
Isaac Rodea finished the tournament at even par. Rounding out the rest of the Beach, Jack Cantlay, Jaden Huggins, and Krishnav Nikhil Chopraa all finished the tournament at 1-over par.
The Beach are back in action Monday, February 27th in Henderson, Nevada as they are set to compete in the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate hosted by Louisiana at the Reflection Bay Golf Course. Beach fans can follow along at Golfstat.com.
