No. 9 Men’s Water Polo Set For Two Top-10 Matchups This Weekend

Long Beach State will welcome UC Davis, Golden West, and Pepperdine to Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center this weekend.
LONG BEACH, CALIF.-- The Long Beach State men's water polo team will return to Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center for the first time in three weeks as they will play three games this weekend. The Beach will play two games on Friday, starting with No. 7 UC Davis at noon, followed by Golden West College at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Long Beach State will face off against No. 3 Pepperdine at 7 p.m.
Robert Lopez Duart scored 11 goals last weekend to extend his total to 51 this season which leads Long Beach State and is second most in the Big West. The Barcelona, Spain native also has 17 assists and 32 steals this season. Bruno Chiappini also had a strong showing in Irvine, scoring 10 goals to bring his total to 29 this season.
After going 2-2 at last weekend's Big West-WCC Clash, Long Beach State will face UC Davis for the third consecutive week. Long Beach State is 1-1 against the Aggies so far this year and are looking to bounce back after a close 12-10 loss last Sunday. UC Davis features a balanced attack with six different 20-goal scorers, with Aleix Aznar Beltran leading the team with 24 goals this season.
Golden West College comes into Friday's game at 13-1 this season and in the midst of a six-game win streak. The Rustlers high-powered offense averages 17 goals per game, as they have scored 239 goals in 14 games this season. Freshman Tomas De Luca is pacing the Golden West offense this season with 30 goals and 14 assists.
On Saturday, Long Beach State will host Pepperdine at 7 p.m. The Waves are 14-3 this season and are led by Adam Csapo with 32 goals and 20 assists. Long Beach State will be looking to defeat Pepperdine for the third straight game, having won the last two matchups in 2022 and 2021.
