Jasmine Leovao set the new LBSU individual scoring record with a 8-under par 64 Monday.

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Sophomore Jasmine Leovao broke a 15-year old Long Beach State individual record, birdieing eight holes without a bogey on the way to an 8-under par 64.

Leovao's 64 was one stroke better than the school record of 65, set by Long Beach State Athletics Hall of Famer Kay Hoey in 2008, and showed her tremendous resilience after a 77 the day before, lifting Jasmine into the Top 10 of the tournament.

All five golfers for Long Beach State were under par, with Jasmine's 64 leading the way to shattering a team mark this squad had set earlier this season. After besting the previous low team round by one stroke at the Golf Iconic Classic of 278, 10-under par, Long Beach State's team score Monday was a 17-under par 271, breaking the record by seven strokes on the day.

Jasmine's twin sister, Janae, remained in competition for the individual title with a four-under par 68, and is one stroke behind Riana Mission of San Francisco for the tournament lead after two rounds at -7 in the 104-participant field.

Sophomore Madison Le finished the day with a 3-under par 69, and freshman Andee Avery was Long Beach State's fourth scorer with a 2-under par 70. Showcasing the kind of day it was for Long Beach State, senior Angelina Kim shot a 71, a score that kept her in the Top 15 overall and was the dropped score on Monday for the Beach.

Long Beach State's day set two tournament records as well. Jasmine Leovao's 64 was the best single round in the history of The Clash at Boulder Creek by two strokes, and Long Beach State's 17-under par also was the best team round by two strokes in the history of the event.

The Beach will have their eyes on more history in the tournament's final day on Tuesday. Entering the final day with an 18-stroke lead on second place San Francisco, Long Beach State is looking to win a second tournament in the same season for just the third time in program history, and can break their team tournament score record with another strong day for the second tournament running.
