Long Beach State will send six to Las Cruces as the Beach takes part in the Aggie Invitational for the second straight season.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The busy start to the season for women's golf continues this upcoming week as Long Beach State will compete in a third tournament in as many weeks, traveling to Las Cruces N.M. to take part in the Aggie Invitational hosted by New Mexico State.

Held on the New Mexico State Golf Course, the tournament will consist of three rounds, one each day starting on Monday, October 3 through Wednesday, October 5. Along with the Beach and the hosts, New Mexico State, the field will include three other Big West schools in CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly and UC Riverside as well as Campbell, Oral Roberts, Pepperdine, San Francisco, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UT Arlington, UTEP, UTRGV and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Janae Leovao and Hannah Ko will continue to anchor the top of the lineup for Long Beach State this week. Leovao shot a five-under par 67 to close out the Ptarmigan Ram Classic last weekend in Colorado, moving into the Top 20 along with Ko, who was also under-par last Tuesday. The duo have finished first and second respectively for the Beach in each of the team's first two tournaments.

Sophomore Kristina Ponomareva got off to a strong start in her first tournament of the year while competing at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic. Ponomareva shot +3 over par for the full tournament, one stroke behind Ko, and will keep her third spot in the lineup. Ponomareva competed as an individual in this tournament a year ago and had her best finish of the year, five-over par and finishing in a tie for 17th overall.

Freshman Jasmine Leovao returns to action after a one-week absence in the fourth spot, and the final member of the roster to make their 2022-23 debut will secure the fifth spot in the lineup as Vanessa Richani will also represent the team in Las Cruces.

Junior Chloe Carraway will also make the trip, competing as an individual. Like Ponomareva, Carraway had a strong showing a year ago on the same course, finishing in a tie for 24th overall and will look to recapture her form in the coming week.
