Fick's Record Breaking Run Earns Her Big West Athlete of the Week Honors

This marks the first Cross Country weekly honor for the senior.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ryley Fick made history on Saturday and has been named the Big West Women's Athlete of the Week for her efforts. She becomes the first Long Beach State Cross Country student-athlete to garner the award in program history.
The Bakersfield native claimed the individual women's 6K title at the UC Riverside Invitational this weekend, crossing the line seven seconds faster than the second place runner.
Her time of 20:07.5 marks a new school record for the event, beating Rosa Del Toro's mark that has held for 11 years, by 20 seconds. Fick's time also ranks eleventh on the all-time list and fastest since 2018 at the UCR Ag Course that just ran its 41st annual UCR Invite.
For her career, Fick's race-winning time also marks a new lifetime-best improving on her PR by almost a full minute.
