Men's 8K | 7 a.m.
Women's 6K | 7:45 a.m.
Saturday marks the first competition of the 2026 campaign for the Beach and the first of five meets on their schedule this fall.
Long Beach State will get an early test over a course designed to produce a fast race. Green River Golf Club features an all-grass layout with the majority of the racing taking place on the fairways. The relatively flat course is made up of repeated mile loops before athletes transition to a finishing loop.
The Long Beach State men will open the day with an 8K consisting of five laps around the Green River Golf Club course. The course map shows four mile checkpoints before the field breaks from the primary loop for the run to the finish.
The women's race follows at 7:45 a.m. and will cover 6K. The women's course consists of three-and-a-half laps, with checkpoints at the first, second and third miles before the runners move onto their finishing section.
The Mark Covert Classic will provide the Beach with their first opportunity to assess both squads in a competitive setting following preseason training. It also begins a schedule that will keep Long Beach State entirely within California during the 2026 campaign.
