Strong Debut From Long Beach State’s Freshmen Has Women’s Golf In Top 10 After First Round In Opening Tournament

Madison Le and Janae Levao topped the team on the first of three rounds at the Coeur d’Alene Collegiate Invitational.
COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho – Long Beach State had three freshmen make their debuts at the Beach in the opening round of the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate and two finished the day tied for 15th overall, leading the Beach to a tie for 7th place after one round Sunday.
Both Madison Le and Janae Leovao shot 72 on the opening round of the tournament, one-over par to share in the team lead after their first competitive round. Junior Hannah Ko got off to a tough start with a bogey and double bogey, but her experience came through as she settled in and finished the day with a 74, staying +3 on the round.
Jasmine Leovao was Long Beach State's third player making their collegiate debut, and the freshman shot a 76 in the opening round, while Chloe Carraway rounded out the lineup with a first round 77.
The Beach ended the day in a four-way tie for 7th overall in the 19 team field, as Grand Canyon, Georgetown and UC Riverside all finished the day at 294, 10-over par in their team scores. Sacramento State finished the day as the team leaders, even par after the first round of action.
