No. 14 LBSU Makes Waves as they Beat No. 16 Pepperdine

In their return to the LBSU Sand Courts, Long Beach State continued their winning ways with a 4-1 victory over No. 16 Pepperdine.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – In a Top 20 showdown, No. 14 Long Beach State stayed red hot with a 4-1 victory over No. 16 Pepperdine on Thursday afternoon. The Beach has now won three straight and 12 of their last 14 matches.
The duo of Nicci Reinking/Claire Newlander were able to defeat their opponents swiftly in the first set with a score of 21-11. They lost the second set but were able to regain their footing and beat Mary Sinclair and Kate Clermont for the Beach's first point of the day.
The tenacious team of Jillian Rodriguez/Emily Mattoon were on a roll during their flight, where they beat the Waves in two straight sets to clinch the match for the Beach in the third flight.
In the first flight, Skyler Germann/Alice Pratesi had arguably the toughest battle, falling in the first set, but turned the tide to beat Pepperdine in the second and third sets.
The 4-1 victory snaps a three-match losing streak to Pepperdine and marks the biggest victory against the Waves in program history.
The Beach will play their next matches in Tucson at the Arizona Invitational on April 15th and 16th.
