No. 11 Long Beach State to Play in Arizona Invitational

The Beach will head to Tucson, Ariz. to play four matches in two days at the University of Arizona.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Coming off three consecutive wins, No. 11 Long Beach State hits the road once again as they head to Arizona this weekend. The Beach will play four matches in two days at the Arizona Invitational.
The action starts on Friday at 12:00 p.m. against Stephen F. Austin followed by Southern Miss at 2:00 p.m. The Beach wraps up the tournament with the host Wildcats on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and Grand Canyon at 11:00 a.m.

ABOUT THE BEACH
- Long Beach State moved up three spots to No. 11 in the AVCA Beach Volleyball polls.
- The Beach is 13-10 on the season, having won three straight duals. They have also won 12 of their last 14 matches over the last three weeks.
- Last week only consisted of one dual for LBSU as they hosted then-No. 16 Pepperdine at the LBSU Sand Courts. The Beach won it 4-1, marking the largest victory over the Waves in program history.
- The duo of Skyler Germann and Alice Pratesi continue to represent the Beach in the first flight, owning an 11-9 record in ones. The duo of Emily Mattoon and Jillian Rodriguez are tied with them for the most flight wins, sporting an 11-5 record between their time in flights three and four.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- Stephen F. Austin enters the week with an 11-11 record coming off a loss to Houston Baptist. This will be the first time LBSU and SFA have met in program history.
- Southern Miss owns an 11-19 overall record after a 3-1 outing in their home tournament last weekend. The Beach swept the Golden Eagles earlier this season in their first ever meeting.
- The host Wildcats are the No. 17 team in the nation with a 15-8 record this season. Long Beach State has faced Arizona four times in their history and won all four. The last matchup between the two programs came back in 2018 with the Beach winning it 3-2.
- - LBSU wraps up the weekend with Grand Canyon, who sit at 17-5 on the season and No. 7 in the polls. The all-time series is tied 4-4 between the Beach and Lopes, but GCU has won the last three duals.
