No. 14 LBSU to Host No. 16 Pepperdine at LBSU Sand Courts

The Beach will play just one dual this week as the Waves comes to Long Beach on Thursday.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a terrific 5-1 weekend on their Northern California trip last weekend, No. 14 ranked Long Beach State is set to host No. 16 ranked Pepperdine at the LBSU Sand Courts this week. The Thursday dual will be the only for the Beach this week.
 
First serve will be at 1:00 p.m. and can be followed via live stats at beachlivestats.com.
 
Admission is free for all fans and are recommended to bring their own chairs. Fans should park in lot G12, east of the Pyramid off Atherton St and enter the sand courts via the service road between the softball and soccer fields.
 
ABOUT THE BEACH
  • Long Beach State moved up two spots to No. 14 in the AVCA Beach Volleyball polls.
  • The Beach is 12-10 overall this season with three wins over ranked opponents and have won 11 of their last 13 duals.
  • Last week the team had a three-day, six-dual trip to Northern California where they came out 5-1, including an upset over No. 8 Stanford. It is their second consecutive five-win week as they move over .500 for the first time this season.
  • The duo of Claire Newlander and Nicci Reinking led the way with a perfect 5-0 mark with points against both No. 13 Cal and No. 8 Stanford.
 
ABOUT PEPPERDINE
  • Pepperdine ranks No. 16 in the latest AVCA rankings.
  • They own a 16-7 overall record and are coming off a 2-2 weekend at the North Florida Invite. Their two wins came against Florida State and host, North Florida.
  • This will be the second time the Beach and Waves have met this season with Pepperdine taking the first meeting, 3-2, in Malibu. Overall, LBSU trails the all-time series 3-23 and has lost the last three matchups.
  • While flights three, four, and five have been changed throughout the season, the Waves top two flights own a combined 37-9 record. Melanie Paul/Madison Shields are 18-5 in one's and Simone Priebe/McKenna Thomas are 19-4 in two's.
