Beach Volleyball Begins Big West Championships on Friday

The two-seeded Beach open up the conference tournament against Sacramento State.
LONG BEACH, Calif. –Long Beach State is headed up to San Luis Obispo, Calif. this weekend to compete in the Big West Championships as the number two seed. They will open up their tournament run against seven-seed Sacramento State.
First serve will be at 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning and can be followed via live stats HERE.
The Beach enters the weekend as the No. 11 ranked team in the nation with a 19-12 overall record. Currently on a four-match win streak, they have won nine of their last 11 duals as they begin the conference tournament.
Against the other Big West institutions this season, LBSU is 7-2 with their losses coming to Hawai'i and Cal Poly.
The Hornets enter the weekend with a 5-16 overall record and went 0-6 at this year's Big West Challenge. Overall, Long Beach State has never lost a match to Sacramento State and has only ever dropped one set in their seven duals all-time including a sweep earlier this season.
The Beach is 13-10 in the Big West Championship over the last five years, and went 3-2 in last year's tournament where they fell to eventual champion, Cal Poly, in the semi-finals.
