Fowler Rebounds With Complete Game In 4-1 Win At Cal Poly

Fowler allowed just three hits in a 7.0 inning start.
Long Beach State (23-19, 13-5 Big West) got off to a fast start with some classic small ball. After a leadoff single from Sara Olson, a slap grounder from Naomi Hernandez moved the sophomore to second, and a groundball through the middle to take a 1-0 lead after half an inning.
Cal Poly (16-23, 11-7 Big West) continued to have some two-out magic in the bottom of the first. Maddie Amos doubled to extend the inning after a pair of quick outs, and Juju Sargent also doubled to tie the game at 1-1.
Neither team would score again until the Beach broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth. Jacquelyn Bickar singled to start the inning, and Lilyanna Martinez with another single to put two on with no outs. After a groundout put runners on the corners, pinch hitter Mikayla Ceballos lifted a single to left field to make the score 2-1.

Long Beach State added a pair of important insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Marissa Caballero singled to start the seventh inning, and Olson walked to put two on with no outs, just like the fourth inning.

The Beach would score two this time though as Naomi Hernandez singled through the left side for the first run, and Kyra Snyder lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to make the score 4-1.
Fowler outdueled freshman Kate Judy from Cal Poly as both teams starting pitchers went the distance. Fowler allowed just three hits and struck out three on the way to her tenth win of the season.
Long Beach State starts a six-game homestand this coming Friday, hosting Hawai'i for three games starting at 1 p.m. All three games against the Rainbow Wahine will have live stats at www.beachlivestats.com.
